Certified Lactation Counselling
As a Certified Lactation Counsellor (CLC), I offer breastfeeding support as
part as my Postpartum Doula services or during separate breastfeeding
support sessions, because breastfeeding isn't always easy, but it is one of
the most important thing you can do for you and your baby.
What does CLC mean? A CLC is a Certified Lactation Counsellor. She has
successfully completed the Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding
Certified Lactation Counselor Training Program awarded by the Academy of
Lactation Policy and Practice. She "has demonstrated the necessary skills,
knowledge and attitudes to provide breastfeeding counseling and
management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or
who have questions or problems during the course of
breastfeeding/lactation.”

The Lactation Counsellor is knowledgeable in basic breastfeeding and
management, and offers assistance and support with easily corrected
breastfeeding problems. For more complex breastfeeding issues, she will
refer to an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
